Highway Care: Innovative solutions for a safer future

Highway Care is a trusted partner for local authorities across the UK as a provider of innovative solutions that deliver improved safety for those working on road maintenance and improvement programmes, and for road users.

At the LCRIG Innovation Festival, Highway Care will be showcasing 50 years of innovation and expertise in road safety, with some of the market-leading solutions from the company’s extensive range of vehicle restraint systems, crash cushions and vehicle incursion protection.

You can find Highway Care in the outdoor exhibition area at the Innovation Festival, with product samples and demonstrations of their RB50 vehicle incursion protection system throughout the event.

TERTU TIMBERRAIL VEHICLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM
Highway Care’s outdoor exhibition area will showcase the versatile Tertu TimberRail vehicle restraint system. A high-performance barrier constructed from steel and clad with Douglas Fir timber, Tertu TimberRail is especially designed to enhance both safety and aesthetics in rural locations, urban landscapes and residential areas.

Tertu TimberRail’s rustic aesthetic blends in with the natural environment, and it has excellent sustainability credentials, with a 20+ year service life. Constructed using renewable timber, with the potential to re-clad the existing steel barrier with replacement timber when the original Douglas Fir reaches the end of its service life, Tertu TimberRail is the ideal solution for protecting vehicle occupants from impact and protecting vital infrastructure from collision damage.

SMA CRASH CUSHIONS
A selection of crash cushions from Highway Care’s SMA range will also be on display, at the company’s outdoor exhibition area, including the Tree, Armadillo and Ermes models. Offering crash cushion performance at an end terminal price, Ermes is compatible with the Tertu TimberRail and a powder coated model will be on display, highlighting how this innovative system can be disguised to look like natural timber and create a complete safety solution in combination with the vehicle restraint system.

Consisting of two crash cushions with a connecting panel, which is adjustable in length to suit varying hazards, the Tree crash Cushion will also be on display at Highway Care’s stand. With chamfered corners to prevent the risk of harm to pedestrians, and market-leading short system lengths, the Tree also boasts a low permanent lateral displacement zone, so it can be installed where others cannot.

An aluminium covered crash cushion that provides protection for motorcyclist impacts, The Armadillo will also be available to delegates at Highway Care’s exhibition space. A repairable system with market leading short system lengths, it boasts D1 and Z1 performance and is supplied assembled to allow for quick and efficient installations.

VEHICLE INCURSION PROTECTION
Developed for the security sector to protect against vehicle as a weapon attacks, RB50 is a certified hostile vehicle mitigation system (HVM), that stops vehicles from entering the protected area. Compact and designed for rapid deployment and easy reconfiguration, RB50 can be wheeled into position and the wheels are then disengaged to provide robust, static protection. By re-engaging the wheels, the HVM can be moved to a new location and the whole system can be stored in special stillages when not in use. Highway Care will be doing demos of this system, throughout the day, enabling delegates to see first-hand how effective it is as a defence against vehicle incursions during road maintenance and improvement projects.

Experts from Highway Care will be available throughout the event to discuss all your safety requirements.
